North America's Premier Network of Private Practice Optometrists
See our new office! We finished remodeling our office in Hartington. It was a total re-build and we think you will like it. Most importantly, it gives us more room for our new instruments:
Practice News
Welcome to our web site! We post the news about our Dr and staff and their professional activities here.
Dr. Filips and Ann go on mission trip to Jamaica The Filips's were part of a VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity) to Jamaica in July 2011. The team of 5 optometrists and 10 support staff examined 1180 patients and dispensed glasses or sunglasses to most of them. Filips Vision Source is collecting used glasses for future trips, especially reading glasses, sun glasses and children's glasses.
Dr. Filips adds new retinal scanner Filips Eye Clinic now has a Humphrey Zeiss OCT retinal scanner. It uses a laser system to scan deep into the retina. It gives cross- sectional views of the retina similar to what a CT scanner gives of the rest of the body. It allows Dr. Filips to diagnose eye diseases earlier and more accurately than ever before, saving patient's vision. The technology is as much of a leap forward as CT scans were over X-Rays.
It is a great tool for diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and any disease of the central retina. It also detects glaucoma. This technology only came on the market in 2008 and is vastly better than anything available before. It is the sort of instrument usually found in retinal specialist's offices and we have it available in Hartington and Creighton! 6/04/09
